Volgarr The Viking

A free game for your Xbox One if you’ve got Gold in the month of November is Volgarr The Viking. It’s a game about a viking named Volgarr who needs to go kill things.

You know, I don’t really know or care what the point is because the point is that it’s very much an homage to the arcade style games of the past. In fact, I could see myself kicking back and playing the Sega Genesis port I rented from the video store twenty years ago.

That said, the game is greuling hard. I can’t get past the first area because it seems to have taken a page out of the old Ghosts ‘N Goblins book of only allowing a few hits before death.

Worth playing? For sure. I’d have paid money for it. For free? What are you waiting for?
