Back in 2004, then Paramount’s Kings Island decided to retire one of the park’s most beloved rides in Flying Eagles. The ride was removed, sent off to Carowinds, and replaced by “The Italian Job: Stunt Track” (since renamed Backlot Stunt Coaster by Cedar Fair).
If you’ll look back to 2013, you’ll see that Kings Island seems to be on at least a minor nostalgia kick. The failed experiment of a coaster called “The Bat” was brought back to the park as a newly themed and renamed “Flight Deck”.
This afternoon, Kings Island announced many improvements to the park, with one of them being the idea of a new ride called “Woodstock Gliders”, a flying scooters ride that looks to bring the experience of Flying Eagles back to the park.
Even though the ride will be located in the Planet Snoopy area, I foresee the ride having plenty of adult riders in its line. No doubt riders that remember the experience of snapping your plane as it soars through the air will strike the feeling of nostalgia in their minds. Don’t forget to grab some blue ice cream afterwards for the full experience.
